Learning to play in a group (1/2)

Playing in a group is a learning experience in itself, where music is shared. It is strongly recommended to all budding musicians to live this experience, however it is not always easy to know how to go about it. Do I have the right level? How can I meet other musicians with whom I can share these moments?

You have to imagine learning your instrument as a language. Rehearsing alone in your room is similar to learning vocabulary, playing in a group is the practical application of this learning. It is not necessary to master all the vocabulary to be able to start talking to someone. A meaningful exchange can take place with very few words used. It is the same in music, the will to "connect" with each other is independent of the fact of mastering one's instrument perfectly, even if it has a certain influence. It is therefore advisable to know a few chord schemes before starting, and to have taken the time to learn songs from the style(s) you like. Playing in a group means opening up to others and developing your listening skills.
