Back to BD FIL and the competition winners!

A colorful weekend in the world of comics!

This weekend, Apolline proposed a comic book competition at the BD FIL festival in Lausanne. After the excitement of the preparations, we finally discovered the festival's buzzing atmosphere, its bubbles, its talents and its curious visitors. Our stand, nestled among publishers, fanzines and comics enthusiasts, attracted young and old alike to try their luck at our drawing competition.

How did it work? Two themes, two worlds to invent:

  • Category 1: You discover an egg... what could it contain?
  • Category 2: A cat meows in a cardboard box... what do you do?

The answers were as funny as they were surprising. Dragons, planets, love, magic, raw and beautiful imagination. I spent hours watching the children draw, concentrated, sometimes hesitant, then proud to stick their creation on the wall, which gradually turned into a lively and touching fresco.

We fell in love with two of the creations:

Le poussin magique by Siena Kilcher (category 1) - a sweet, inventive creation.
L'amour malgré tout by Nino Mellier (category 2) - a simple but moving story.

And then there was Daniel. A pupil of Laurène, one of our wonderful teachers, he came to see us with his comic book under his arm, discreetly hoping to come across a publisher. He hasn't found a contract (yet), but he left with valuable feedback and a smile. And for me, that's what Apolline is all about: taking young talent where they dream of going.
